Newer versions of Final Cut Pro export XML in a newer bundled format called FCPXMLD. This format is designed for Final Cut Pro’s internal use and contains additional bundled data.
Colourlab AI does not require or support the FCPXMLD bundled format for timeline syncing. As a result, attempting to import an FCPXMLD file may fail or produce unexpected results.
Solution
Convert the FCPXMLD file to a standard FCPXML file before importing it into Colourlab AI.
This can be done easily using a free FCPXMLD-to-FCPXML conversion tool. After conversion, the resulting .fcpxml file will import cleanly and sync correctly.

Recommended Workflow
Export XML from Final Cut Pro (this will produce an FCPXMLD file in newer versions).
Open a free FCPXMLD → FCPXML conversion tool.
Convert the bundled FCPXMLD file to a standard .fcpxml file.
Import the converted .fcpxml file into Colourlab AI.
Proceed with syncing and color work as normal.
