This document provides step-by-step instructions for installing the FilmLab AI plugins and activating your license.
Please read this guide carefully before proceeding.
Important:
If you are a customer who owns a FilmLab AI + ColourLab AI DVR bundle, you must complete the FilmLab AI installation first before installing ColourLab AI DVR.
Installation Instructions
1. Close DaVinci Resolve to ensure a smooth installation.
2. Double-click on the FilmLab AI installer and follow the on-screen instructions.
3. When prompted with installation options, make sure to deselect “ColorLab AI Server.”
4. If you’d like to use a floating license server that lets you install plugins on all systems within your network—while being limited to two active sessions at a time—then ColourLab AI Server is the right choice for you.
With ColourLab AI Server, you don’t need to license individual machines. Instead, the server manages licensing centrally and allows up to two concurrent users at any given moment. It’s a flexible and efficient solution for studios and teams.
5. Repeat the installation process for both LookDesigner FL and GrainLab FL plugins.
These plugins are included in the FilmLab AI package, but they are not part of the main FilmLab AI installer, as they are also used in the professional version of ColourLab AI.
Important Notes
Only Look Designer FL is compatible with a FilmLab AI license. A Look Designer version without FL will NOT activate with FilmLab AI. We strongly recommend not mixing: Look Designer FL Look Designer (non-FL) on the same system, as this may cause licensing confusion or activation issues. Activating FilmLab AI in DaVinci Resolve
4. Activate Your FilmLab AI License
1. Open DaVinci Resolve and navigate to the Color page.
2. Place a clip on the timeline, add a node, and drag any FilmLab AI plugin (e.g., iNode) onto the node.
3. Click the License button, then select Serial Number and enter your serial number here.
• Important: Enter the serial number on one of the FilmLab AI plugins only (e.g., iNode). All other plugins will activate automatically.
5. Licensing Server (Advanced / Shared Environments Only)
4. If you choose to run a floating license server, open the Colourlab AI server from your system tray and verify the connection. A green light should confirm that a seat has been activated and is currently in use.
Activating Additional Plugins
All other plugins should now automatically activate through the server. If any do not connect:
1. Click on the License Server button for the plugin.
2. Select Server, and enter the IP address of your Colourlab AI server (usually displayed in the server settings).
3. This will complete the connection.
